Important Participation of Iraqi Doctors in the World Osteoporosis Conference

The Iraqi League for Bone and Joint Health had numerous participations in the World Osteoporosis Congress which was organized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) in collaboration with the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO), and was held in Rome, Italy, from April 8-13, 2025. Participations included:

1. Attending the annual meeting of the IOF Board Meeting

2. Participation in the Committee of National Societies (CNS) activities

3. Participation in the Pan Arab Osteoporosis Society (PAOS) Board of Directors meeting

4. Attending the APLAR Osteoporosis SIG meeting and participation in a study planned about GIOP

5. Two papers from Iraq were accepted as posters and presented during the congress

6. Meeting with Prof. John Canes, IOF Former President & the Inventor of the FRAX to discuss the next steps in the Iraqi FRAX project

7. A preliminary agreement has been reached with the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) to hold a certified course in Baghdad, in January 2026 with the participation of international experts.

Twenty physicians from the Iraqi League for Bone and Joint Health attended and registered for free in the conference.
